Back when the lockout of the NHL had all hockey lovers chomping at the bit for its return, the one message that Gary and crew talked about in the “NEW” NHL was parity.  Every team would be on a level playing field and no one team would be able to dominate.  The idea was to keep the teams closer so at the end of the year there wouldn’t be a lopsided run in the finals.

Well, let’s all take note.  Of the 8 different series in round 1, here is how even they were:

Today I passed my Minnesota motorcycle permit test so I can ride my scooter legally… did I mention that I am getting a scooter? Silly me. Well, I am. The price of gas has gotten out of hand and this is one simple way to cut down on the amount I use for daily commuting and running errands.

I say today I passed because yesterday I failed. Yup, I blew it big time. I did go over the manual and skimmed the pages thinking it would be a cake walk, but I found out just how much I didn’t know after getting only 29 right out of 40 (you could only miss 8 to pass).

Last night we had a great Photoshop Users Group meeting, as usual, and the hot topic was how to tweak Photoshop to get the most out of your machine and ram. David Dobish from Adobe’s QA division in Arden Hills, MN was on hand to talk to the group and offered up some basic ideas with a few gems thrown in.

The big one for me was the Cache setting and what you should do to make it work for you environment. I won’t go into the tech side of it too much, but instead try to make it easy to digest.

I found out the hard way that the D3, while the best digital camera I have owned, needs to be cleaned routinly like I never did with my other digicams.

I leaned this lesson after spending an extra hour spot cleaning over 85 images after a recent job. Consider this your wake up call…

UPDATE - this lens is now for sale. $900.00 + SOLD 12/1/08.

I have a thing about my Nikons… no, not that kind of thing! I just love the craftsmanship and the name and the history that comes with it. Since I got into photography back in 1983, Nikon has been to me what Mercedes is to a car buff.

The 50-300mm f4.5 zoom is one of those past beauties that still delivers today. Yes, it is not auto focus. So what, I can still work both my hands AND my eyes. The ED version is the cream of the this lens crop and if you keep your eyes out for one, you too might get lucky to.

Back in June of 2005, I put together a .pdf showing step by step how I setup my WT-2A with my Nikon D2X. I concentrated on infrastructure mode as ad-hoc didn’t really offer me anything that I needed.

Since then, I have helped many folks get theirs up and running. I went so far as to call a chap back in Australia and walk him through it step by step (didn’t have file sharing on in his pref…DOH!). I am by no means a networking guru. I can barely keep my simple home/office setup going, but I put in the time and documented what worked, and soon started getting calls from others for help.

I love Minnesota. I must, I’ve moved back here three different times. After trying the west coast and even Montana, I return to my roots and where I was raised, to home.

But, when March comes around, I don’t want to see snow anymore. None. Zero. So what happened today?
